Nvidia investment in Taiwan attributed to multiple stakeholders
Business leader Hsieh Chin-ho has addressed claims regarding the credit for securing Nvidia's presence in Taipei. He clarified that the company's decision to establish an AI research center in Taiwan involved a complex timeline of cooperation between government and private sectors.
Key developments included a 24.37 billion TWD investment plan involving the Ministry of Economic Affairs and National Taiwan University. The project, supported by a 6.7 billion TWD budget from the Executive Yuan's Forward-looking Infrastructure Development Program, aims to foster AI talent through a joint research center.
Hsieh noted that while Nvidia was already seeking a base in Taipei to accommodate employees, the selection of the Beishi Science Park site required significant mediation. He highlighted that business leaders, including discussions with Shin Kong Life Insurance, and the Taipei City Government played crucial roles in resolving land use issues to ensure Nvidia could settle in the area.
