Nvidia invests in Spanish AI startup iPronics

Nvidia has made its first investment in a Spanish company, joining the Series B funding round of Valencia-based startup iPronics. The funding round, totaling approximately 108 million euros, was co-led by Silicon Valley funds Maverick Silicon and Light Street Capital.

iPronics, a spin-off from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, specializes in photonic chips. These chips utilize light rather than electricity to transmit data, aiming to resolve connectivity bottlenecks in AI data centers by connecting thousands of GPUs.

Since its founding six years ago, the company has raised a total of approximately 177 million dollars. The startup's technology is designed to optimize the communication between computational resources used for training and executing generative AI systems.
