Nvidia joins $125M funding round for iPronics
Nvidia has joined as a strategic investor in a $125 million Series B funding round for iPronics, a Valencia-based company specializing in silicon photonics. The round was co-led by Maverick Silicon and Light Street Capital, with participation from several other venture firms including Bosch Ventures and the European Innovation Council. iPronics has raised a total of $177 million to date.
The capital will be used to scale production and commercial deployment of the iPronics ONE, an optical circuit switch (OCS) that reroutes light between GPU clusters in real time. This technology aims to address connectivity bottlenecks in AI clusters by providing a programmable, high-speed alternative to traditional copper or mechanical optical switches.
Separately, Nvidia continues to demonstrate significant financial growth. The company reported second-quarter revenue of $96.2 billion, a 106% increase compared to the previous year. Following these results, several investment banks, including Raymond James and Wedbush, have raised their price targets for Nvidia stock, reflecting sustained confidence in the company's operational trajectory.
