Nvidia partners with SK Group and Naver on $500 billion AI data‑centre plan

Nvidia announced a $1 billion investment in South Korean internet platform Naver to expand an AI data centre being built with private‑equity firm Brookfield. The funding will triple the facility’s capacity and is part of a broader effort to create a gigawatt‑scale AI infrastructure in Korea. In parallel, Nvidia and the Korean conglomerate SK Group disclosed a joint AI initiative valued at more than $500 billion, covering the construction of AI data‑centres totalling over 2 GW of power and the co‑development of next‑generation high‑bandwidth memory with SK Hynix. The plan includes a first 2‑GW AI factory expected to be operational in 2027. Nvidia is also establishing joint research laboratories in Korea, notably with KAIST’s Kim Jaechul Graduate School of AI and with Seoul National University, to develop agentic AI models and train Korean talent. The partnerships were highlighted at the San Francisco AI Summit where South Korean President Lee Jae‑Myung met Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and other global tech leaders, presenting a “San Francisco AI Declaration” that positions Korea as a core hub in the global AI supply chain.
