Nvidia projects chip sales to double amid rising AI demand
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has projected that the company’s chip sales volume could double by 2027, driven by surging global demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure. Speaking on the sidelines of an AI-related summit, Huang noted that businesses and governments across nearly all markets where Nvidia operates are seeking to increase their AI investments.
This growth projection aligns with Nvidia’s broader goal of increasing revenue by approximately 70% by fiscal year 2028, potentially reaching $673 billion. While demand remains high, the company faces supply constraints, particularly regarding high-bandwidth memory (HBM). Nvidia’s product portfolio is expanding beyond its core GPUs to include CPUs, networking chips, and processors for robotics and automotive applications.
Addressing AI safety, Nvidia CTO Michael Kagan argued against slowing technological development to mitigate risks. He emphasized that innovation should proceed alongside increased investment in safety testing and protective mechanisms, asserting that AI has significant potential to drive economic growth if developed responsibly.
