Nvidia reaches record $2.15 million in quarterly federal lobbying
Nvidia spent approximately $2.15 million on federal lobbying during the third quarter of 2026, marking a quarterly high for the chipmaker. This brings the company’s total lobbying expenditure for the first nine months of the year to roughly $4.7 million.
The increased spending coincides with significant regulatory and trade challenges, particularly regarding U.S. export controls on advanced AI chips and sales to China. Nvidia has been navigating restrictions on its data center chip market access, including limitations on H200 chip sales due to both U.S. licenses and Chinese government restrictions.
According to disclosure reports, Nvidia’s lobbying efforts have focused on several key areas: AI chip export controls, the implementation of the CHIPS and Science Act, data center energy efficiency, and the development of AI regulatory frameworks, such as the National AI Commission Act. The company also lobbied regarding provisions in the National Defense Authorization Act.
