NVIDIA retires Control Panel, consolidates features in NVIDIA App and launches Linux driver with HDR support

NVIDIA announced that the classic Control Panel has been fully retired after 20 years. The transition, completed with driver version 610.47.47 WHQL, moves all GeForce settings and features into the NVIDIA App, which now serves as the sole interface for driver updates, DLSS overrides, GPU optimization and RTX tools. The legacy panel remains only if a clean driver installation is performed; otherwise it disappears, though it can still be reinstalled from the Microsoft Store for nostalgic users.

In parallel, NVIDIA released driver 610.43.02 for Linux, introducing direct HDR output support on Wayland and DRM format modifiers, and adding several new Vulkan extensions such as VK_EXT_shader_long_vector, VK_KHR_internally_synchronized_queues, and VK_NV_push_constant_bank. The update also enhances multi‑GPU handling, dmabuf support for shared memory, and DRM color‑pipeline capabilities, improving performance, power efficiency and compatibility with hybrid graphics laptops.
