NVIDIA RTX 5060 Ti Survives Car Crash After Repair

A GeForce RTX 5060 Ti graphics card from the Chinese brand AX Gaming was severely bent in half during a high‑speed car collision in China. The impact crushed the cooler, backplate and bracket, but the card’s unusually short printed‑circuit board (PCB) remained largely intact, sparing the core components.

Hardware technician Brother Zhang documented the rescue on YouTube. After confirming the PCB had only a slight bend and no short circuits, he identified a damaged VRAM memory chip whose solder joints had cracked under stress. By carefully removing the chip, re‑soldering it, and re‑assembling the card with an improvised cooling solution, Zhang restored the GPU to working order. Windows recognized the card, and stress tests showed stable temperatures around 67 °C. The original cooler was unusable, so a new cooling system will be required for continued use.

The incident highlights how specific design choices—such as a short PCB—can prevent total failure of expensive hardware under extreme mechanical trauma, and it showcases the lengths to which skilled technicians will go to salvage damaged components.
