Nvidia RTX 5090 struggles to maintain performance for 6K gaming

Nvidia’s flagship GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card is struggling to maintain high performance levels for 6K gaming. As high-resolution monitors like the Samsung Odyssey G80HS, which supports 165 Hz, enter the market, the massive pixel density of 6K (21.2 million pixels) is placing unprecedented strain on even top-tier hardware.

Testing on demanding titles reveals significant performance drops when moving from 4K to 6K. In Cyberpunk 2077, using Ray Tracing Overdrive and DLSS Performance, the RTX 5090 drops from 85 FPS at 4K to just 42 FPS at 6K. To achieve playable frame rates, users must disable ray tracing. Similarly, in Crimson Desert, performance falls below 30 FPS at 6K resolution when using cinematic settings, requiring users to disable Ray Reconstruction and utilize DLSS Balanced mode to maintain stability.
