Nvidia launches Vera CPU to power agentic AI workloads
Nvidia announced its Vera CPU, an Arm‑based server processor built for agentic AI tasks that require fast single‑thread performance and high memory bandwidth. The chip features 88 custom Olympus cores, 176 threads, up to 1.5 TB of LPDDR5X memory and 1.2 TB/s memory bandwidth, plus NVLink‑C2C links providing up to 1.8 TB/s between the CPU and Nvidia GPUs.
Nvidia claims Vera runs agentic AI workloads up to 1.8 times faster than leading x86 CPUs while cutting latency by about 40 %. The company also showcased a cooling system that circulates 45 °C water to keep the processor within safe operating temperatures. Vera positions Nvidia to compete directly with AMD EPYC and Intel Xeon in the data‑centre AI server market.
