NXPO hosts policy dialogue to advance social equity in Thailand

The Office of National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy (NXPO) hosted the fifth Policy Dialogue Series titled ‘A Fairer Future: Advancing Equity through Social Sciences, Humanities, and Arts.’ The forum aimed to gather proposals to enhance the role of these disciplines in shaping policy and driving the higher education, science, research, and innovation (HESRI) system to reduce inequality.

Key discussions focused on creating a system where all groups can access resources, knowledge, and participate in determining their own futures. Experts suggested that cultural fairness requires recognition, access, and shared power. Proposals included involving communities in research design and shifting academic evaluations from quantitative outputs to measuring real-world local impact.

Furthermore, participants emphasized that knowledge fairness must ensure that education and research translate into tangible opportunities, income, and improved quality of life. The goal is to transform citizens from mere data sources into ‘co-creators of knowledge’ through continuous lifelong learning pathways.
