NY State Police seize 500+ lbs cannabis after highway chase

New York State Police arrested two Massena residents, Torrey R. Jackson, 39, and Tori L. Rushlow, 29, after a vehicle pursuit on the Northway (I‑87) that ran from Queensbury into Saratoga County. During the chase the driver threw multiple garbage bags of vacuum‑sealed cannabis onto the highway and the vehicle was later found to contain more than 500 pounds of the drug.

Two troopers sustained non‑life‑threatening injuries and two patrol cars were damaged. Both suspects were taken into custody without bail, arraigned in Wilton Town Court and transferred to the Saratoga County Jail. They face charges including attempted aggravated assault on police officers, first‑degree criminal possession of cannabis, several assault and mischief counts, tampering with evidence, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment and numerous traffic violations. The seizure is among the larger cannabis busts reported by New York State Police, reflecting ongoing enforcement against unlicensed cannabis operations moving through the state’s highway network.
