Nyamira County official interdicted over procurement probe
Josphat Oruru, the chief officer for the department of roads, public works, and transport in Nyamira County, has been interdicted following investigations into procurement irregularities. The case involves the construction of the Nyamira County Assembly headquarters, where Oruru previously served as the resident engineer.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission investigated whether the county received adequate value for the funds committed to the project. Following a review of the investigative file, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions authorized the prosecution of several implicated officers. Oruru was among the senior officials arrested and arraigned in court. His interdiction follows a period where he reportedly continued to perform his official duties after his initial arraignment.
