NYC Health + Hospitals / Jacobi | North Central Bronx expands medical services
NYC Health + Hospitals / Jacobi | North Central Bronx is implementing several service and technology upgrades to improve patient access and care quality in the Bronx.
The facility has acquired a $600,000 Zeiss Opmi Lumera 700 advanced surgical microscope. Supported by Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson and Council Member Eric Dinowitz, the equipment is intended to enhance ophthalmic care, specifically for cataract surgeries, by providing high-detail, distortion-free imaging of retinas and corneas. The microscope is expected to be operational early next year.
Additionally, the dental department has expanded its hours to include evening appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays to accommodate working residents. The new schedule includes dedicated pediatric appointments on Tuesday evenings and adult appointments on Thursday evenings. The expansion also integrates dental care for Women’s Health Services patients to address specific risks associated with pregnancy.
