Zohran Mamdani Outpaces Netanyahu in US Jewish Favorability Poll
An Associated Press‑NORC poll of 1,022 Jewish adults conducted June 11‑17, 2026 found that 44 % view New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani favorably versus 32 % for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Unfavorable ratings were 39 % for Mamdani and 59 % for Netanyahu, giving Mamdani a net favorability of +5 points and Netanyahu –27 points. The survey also showed 38 % of respondents think the United States is overly supportive of Israel, while 24 % say it does not support the Palestinian people enough. Thirty percent believe Israel has committed genocide in Gaza, and 7 % say Hamas’s October 7 attack was justified.
Mamdani, who has faced accusations of antisemitism, condemned a swastika carved into a car on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, calling it a “despicable act of antisemitism” and urging the NYPD to pursue the hate‑crime investigation. City officials and the Anti‑Defamation League also denounced the incident. Separately, actor Robert Davi launched a public rant attacking Mamdani’s political views, urging stricter residency requirements for office‑seekers.
