Pro-Palestine protests planned in London and at UCLA for October 7 anniversary
Pro-Palestinian demonstrations are scheduled across several locations to mark the third anniversary of the October 7 Hamas attacks on Israel.
At the University of California, Los Angeles, the group Students for Justice in Palestine has announced a mass protest at Bruin Plaza. The group stated the demonstration aims to recognize Palestinian resistance and address what they described as escalated genocide in Palestine. The announcement has faced significant criticism from those who view the timing as insensitive.
In the United Kingdom, hundreds of students are expected to march through central London. While the Metropolitan Police stated they could not ban the protest, they issued a plea for demonstrators to reflect on the distress the date may cause Jewish communities. The police have imposed strict conditions on the march, including a specific route from Lincoln’s Inn Fields to Russell Square. Additionally, student-led rallies are planned at universities in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
