Ünye launches unified public transport system with 118 new vehicles

Ordu Metropolitan Municipality has launched the ‘Ünye City Inner Public Transport Transformation Project,’ consolidating four separate cooperatives into a single unified system. The initiative has expanded the local transit network from four routes to ten, utilizing a fleet of 118 brand-new vehicles.

The new fleet is designed to be accessible for disabled passengers and features modern amenities, including camera tracking systems and electronic card payment capabilities via the ‘Ordumkart’ application. This system allows passengers to transfer between vehicles seamlessly without needing to pay separate fares for each leg of a journey.

Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Mehmet Hilmi Güler stated that the goal is to unify transportation systems across the province to ensure continuous and easy transit for citizens. The project aims to strengthen the connection between the Ünye city center and surrounding neighborhoods, ensuring that even areas previously unserved by minibuses are now integrated into the public transport network.
