Ünye magnetic black sand attracts interest for purported healing properties
A 30-kilometer stretch of coastline in the Ünye district of Ordu, Turkey, has gained attention due to its magnetic black sand. Formed by the accumulation of minerals carried by rivers and Black Sea waves, the sand contains approximately 20 different minerals and has a grain fineness of about 80 microns.
Orhan Yiğit, a retired geophysics engineer, claims that the minerals in the sand create high energy through resonance, operating within a frequency range of 70,000 to 80,000. Yiğit asserts that his seven years of research suggest the sand can help alleviate conditions such as rheumatism, sciatica, stress, and certain surgical wounds, noting that nearly 4,000 people have reported benefits.
However, there is currently no established scientific standard or strong medical evidence to confirm that these frequency values can provide clinical treatment or replace conventional medicine. The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health in the U.S. has noted that research on the effectiveness of static magnets for pain relief has not yielded definitive results.
