Nyesom Wike and Lagos PDP clash over Bode George

A political dispute has intensified between Nigeria's Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, and senior members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), specifically Chief Bode George.

Wike, through his spokesperson Lere Olayinka, stated he has "no regret" in blocking Bode George's bid for the PDP National Chairmanship. Wike characterized George as a "failed politician" who lacks electoral value, claiming George has failed to deliver victories for the party in Lagos State and has even failed to win his own polling unit.

The Lagos State Chapter of the PDP responded with an open letter, dismissing Wike's comments as "intellectually weak." The chapter warned the Minister to focus on his duties in Abuja and stay out of Lagos politics, stating, "Lagos no be Rivers." The Lagos PDP further argued that George voluntarily stepped down from his chairmanship ambitions to maintain party unity rather than being forced out by Wike.
