Abuja FCTA announces major infrastructure and healthcare upgrades
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), led by Minister Nyesom Wike, has announced several major infrastructure and administrative initiatives in Abuja. The FCT Executive Council has ratified road projects in Bwari and Gwagwalada worth N17.1 billion and approved a N5.7 billion power supply project for Bwari. Additionally, the administration is overhauling the healthcare sector by renovating 14 general hospitals and resuming work on the long-abandoned Utako General Hospital. Other approved measures include the digitalization of 67 FCT High Courtrooms and the implementation of new ICT infrastructure for the Department of Land Administration.
Separately, Jordan Nyesom-Wike, son of the FCT Minister, is facing legal proceedings in an Abuja High Court regarding an alleged $2.1 million land fraud. The claimants allege that Jordan facilitated a land deal in Katampe and Guzape, claiming $2 million was intended for his father. Jordan has denied all allegations, asserting that his signature on relevant documents was forged and that he was out of the country when the transaction allegedly occurred. He has since produced his American passport to the court, and the case has been adjourned to December 2026.
