Nyesom Wike announces SUV procurement for FCT traditional rulers
Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the procurement of new sport utility vehicles (SUVs) for newly upgraded traditional rulers in the territory. The decision aims to recognize the role of traditional institutions in maintaining peace and preserving culture. Wike noted that the President also approved the upgrade of traditional stools, a process that had been stalled for 27 years.
During a stakeholders rally in Abuja, the FCT Minister also addressed concerns regarding youth inclusion in government engagements. The FCT Stakeholders’ Assembly commended Wike for apologizing to local youths for their perceived exclusion and for spending time interacting with representatives from 858 indigenous communities.
Additionally, the event saw various political endorsements, including support for President Tinubu for a second term in 2027 and several candidates for local legislative seats.
