Abuja: Wike orders crackdown on illegal transport and green space usage
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has announced a strict enforcement campaign in Abuja to restore order. This includes an ultimatum to commercial transporters to use designated terminals, such as Mabushi and the Central Business District, or face vehicle impoundment and auction. Additionally, Wike is targeting car dealers operating illegally in public green spaces and parks, blaming corrupt civil servants for issuing unauthorized allocation papers.
In the political sphere, preparations for the 2027 general elections are intensifying. Rabiu Kwankwaso has urged Senator Abdul’aziz Yari to decline his appointment as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, arguing that the party needs fresh faces rather than political recycling. Conversely, Yari has expressed confidence in the APC, asserting that the party will fulfill its promises and secure a mandate for President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Wike has also declared his intention to maintain intense political pressure on opposition leaders, including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, noting that the internal crisis within the PDP has weakened the opposition's ability to present a formidable challenge.
