Nyitott Műhely founder seeks successor for Budapest venue

László Finta, the founder and leader of the Budapest-based cultural venue Nyitott Műhely, has announced that the institution's future is uncertain due to rising costs and economic pressures. After more than 25 years of operation, Finta stated in social media posts that the current economic environment makes it difficult to guarantee continued operations.

Finta noted that even former supporters are now requesting payment for services, creating a financial burden that is increasingly difficult to meet. He emphasized that while the venue has built significant cultural value and a recognizable brand, these intangible assets cannot be easily quantified or priced in a market context.

As Finta is over 60 years old and seeking retirement, he is actively looking for young successors to take over the leadership. He stressed that the ideal successors must possess more than just financial stability; they must demonstrate deep commitment, humility, and a respect for the venue's heritage and community.
