Nyíregyháza commemorates international Esperanto conference

A memorial stone and a commemorative oak tree have been established at the Sóstó Spa park in Nyíregyháza to honor the 2016 International League of Esperanto Teachers (ILEI) conference. The event, held ten years ago, brought together over 130 educators from 29 different countries.

The ceremony included bilingual poetry readings in Hungarian and Esperanto. Representatives from the Hungarian Esperanto Association and the Association of Esperanto Teachers in Hungary participated in the commemoration. Speakers also noted the prevalence of Esperanto-related landmarks across Hungary, including streets, squares, and bridges named after the language.
