Nysa City Council Chairwoman faces scrutiny over flood relief funds

Jolanta Trytko-Warczak, the Chairwoman of the Nysa City Council and social assistant to Minister Tomasz Siemoniak, has faced scrutiny regarding flood relief funds received by her business, a spa salon. According to reports from the association ‘Nysa Patrzy’, the company VENETO received over 170,000 PLN in total aid, with payments of approximately 65,000 PLN in late 2024 and 106,000 PLN in late February 2025.

Controversy has arisen because the salon was reportedly only closed for two days (September 16–17, 2024) following the floods. While local community members have claimed that water levels near the building were minimal, Trytko-Warczak maintains that the damage was significant. She stated that approximately 70 cm of water flooded the utility rooms, boiler room, and storage areas, damaging floors, walls, and equipment.

The Nysa District Labor Office (PUP) noted that the application included photos and expert documentation, asserting that all recipients had to meet specific criteria. Daniel Palimąka, the head of the Nysa Starosty and a member of Koalicja Obywatelska, denied involvement in the distribution of the funds, stating the program was implemented by the District Labor Office.
