NYU student flies weekly between New York and Florida for internship

Vincent Campanaro, a freshman at New York University’s Stern School of Business, gained attention for his unconventional commuting schedule during a six-month internship. Rather than relocating, Campanaro flew between New York and Naples, Florida, every weekend to balance his studies with his professional responsibilities.

Working in the business development department at the Ritz-Carlton Naples, Campanaro would fly to Florida every Friday after his classes ended and return to New York on Sundays. This routine involved traveling approximately 1,770 km each way, totaling nearly 3,600 km per weekend. The weekly travel time ranged from five to eight hours.

The financial cost of this arrangement was significant, with weekly travel expenses totaling approximately $500. Over the course of the six-month internship, which began in November 2023, the total expenditure for travel was estimated at roughly $10,000.
