NZME Limited secures Stuff's Petone print equipment to improve profitability

NZME Limited, a New Zealand media and entertainment company, has finalized an agreement to acquire the print‑plant equipment from Stuff’s Petone facility. The purchase, valued at up to US$15 million over two years, includes relocation, installation and commissioning, with a projected cash‑flow payback within three years.

The acquired machinery, about one‑third the size of NZME’s existing plant, is expected to deliver annual operating savings of roughly US$7 million and enable additional third‑party printing services across the North Island. CEO Michael Boggs said the deal will “right‑size” production capacity and sustain print’s role for New Zealanders, while Chief Publishing Officer Matt Wilson highlighted the equipment’s modern, efficient design.
