N’Zérékoré land dispute sparks clashes in Boma 2
Violent clashes broke out on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, in Boma 2, located in the Samoé rural commune of the N’Zérékoré prefecture, following a long-standing land dispute. The unrest began after security forces intervened to remove doors and windows from several dwellings situated on the contested property.
In response to the operation, local youths erected barricades, burned tires, and threw stones at security agents. While authorities eventually regained control of the area, residents have expressed significant distress regarding the legality and manner of the intervention.
Affected residents reported various grievances, including claims of financial loss and displacement. One resident, Mamadi Kourouma, alleged he paid a total of 165 million Guinean francs for the same plot to two different parties involved in the dispute. Another resident, N’na Fatou, who has lived in the neighborhood for over 30 years, appealed to President Mamadi Doumbouya for assistance after facing eviction orders. Other locals, including Pastor David Lamah, noted that many occupants claimed to have purchased their land decades ago but were not notified of the judicial proceedings between the primary claimants.
