O Barco advances urban renovation and infrastructure repairs

Urban renovation projects are progressing in O Barco, Spain, focusing on both historical preservation and infrastructure repair.

Work is currently underway in the Plaza Mayor to recover a historical fountain located beneath a former pastry shop. This first phase, managed by the company Acoval, has a budget of 463,105 euros and a seven-month timeline. The project includes remodeling the staircase, leveling pavements on Calle Pérez Lista to improve pedestrian access, and creating a rest area in Porto da Barca. Additionally, the Diputación de Ourense has opened a tender for a second phase in Rúa Real and Camiño Real, valued at 310,000 euros.

Separately, traffic has been restored to the N-536 highway crossing in the town center following repairs to sewage systems and a sinkhole discovered in June. The road, which had been closed to vehicles since mid-September, reopened on October 20. While driving is permitted, final asphalt work is expected to take approximately three months to complete.
