OŠ Centar students promote environmental awareness in Rijeka

Students at OŠ Centar participated in the ‘My First Plant’ activity as part of European Sustainable Development Week. The initiative aims to raise awareness among young children regarding the importance of nature, greenery, and responsible environmental stewardship.

The activity is linked to a local story about a plane tree located at Delta in Rijeka. This specific tree has been proposed by the Centar-Sušak Council for the Croatian Tree of the Year, offering Rijeka its first opportunity to have a local tree represent Croatia in the selection for the European Tree of the Year. As part of the program, younger students attended an art workshop held under the plane tree to connect with the local environment and the importance of small, daily steps in environmental care.
