O Porriño leads Vigo area in Social Security affiliation growth

O Porriño recorded the highest percentage growth in Social Security affiliation within the Vigo metropolitan area between August 2025 and August 2026. According to data from the Instituto Galego de Estatística (IGE), the municipality reached 9,605 affiliates, marking a 2.9% increase and an addition of 271 contributors.

Other municipalities in the region also saw growth, including Vigo, which saw a 1.45% increase to 120,730 affiliates, as well as Mos, Salceda de Caselas, Redondela, and Soutomaior. Conversely, several areas experienced declines in affiliation, with Nigrán seeing the largest percentage drop at 2%, followed by decreases in Cangas, Gondomar, Moaña, Baiona, Fornelos, and Pazos de Borbén.
