O Rosal reports significant reductions in energy use and CO2 emissions
The municipality of O Rosal has presented its sustainability model to the 'Vilas en Flor' jury, highlighting significant progress in environmental policies over the last decade.
According to the Second Monitoring Report of the Action Plan for Climate and Sustainable Energy (PACES), the local government has achieved a 42.7% reduction in energy consumption across public facilities. Additionally, CO2 emissions have decreased by 48.3% over the past ten years.
Key measures contributing to these results include the transition to LED public lighting and the replacement of old boilers with more efficient systems. An investment exceeding 336,000 euros was dedicated to upgrading heating systems in various municipal buildings, including the town hall, social centers, and sports facilities. Mayor Ánxela Fernández Callís stated that these actions allow for a reduced environmental impact and better use of public resources.
