O Salnés remains under drought pre-alert following extreme summer heat

The O Salnés region in Spain is currently under a drought pre-alert following one of its hottest summers in recent years. The Xunta has placed the area on alert to monitor meteorological conditions and the water levels of the Umia River and its tributaries.

September was recorded as the driest month in the last five years, with only one day of significant rainfall on September 8. Although total rainfall for the month was 62.2 liters per square meter—lower than in 2021—the Mancomunidade de O Salnés has successfully maintained the water supply for the region, despite a significant rise in water consumption.
