O2 Czech Republic launches portable private 5G network

O2 Czech Republic has introduced a portable, private 5G network designed for emergency situations, industrial sites, and areas with limited connectivity. The system is housed in two suitcases weighing a total of 60 kg, making it easy to transport in a standard vehicle. It can be deployed and operational in approximately ten minutes.

The network features its own 5G Core, allowing it to function as a secure communication bubble even without an external internet connection. It supports up to 1,000 simultaneous users with data speeds reaching 10 Gbps and a coverage range of up to two kilometers. The technology is built on Ericsson radio equipment operating in the 3700 MHz and 2600 MHz bands, supporting 4G LTE, 5G, 5G+, and RedCap for IoT applications.

Potential use cases include disaster relief (floods, fires), search and rescue operations, and maintaining communication during power outages. The system can also be integrated into emergency vehicles with a telescopic mast reaching up to ten meters. It can be connected to the outside world via Ethernet, optical fiber, microwave links, or satellite connections like Starlink.
