Major corporate mergers scheduled for Slovakia in November 2026
Two significant corporate mergers are set to take effect in Slovakia on November 1, 2026, impacting hundreds of thousands of customers in the telecommunications and banking sectors.
In the telecommunications sector, UPC Broadband Slovakia will merge into O2 Slovakia. O2 will become the legal successor, assuming all rights and obligations. This transition affects approximately 170,000 UPC customers, who will begin receiving invoices from O2. While service usage, pricing, and contracts remain unchanged for now, the merger follows O2's acquisition of UPC from Liberty Global for 95 million euros.
In the banking sector, 365. bank will merge with ČSOB, ceasing to exist as an independent entity. This merger, driven by the Belgian financial group KBC, will result in a combined institution with approximately 1.4 million clients, making it the second largest bank in Slovakia. Clients of 365. bank and Poštová banka will automatically become ČSOB clients. Account numbers, IBANs, and existing digital banking credentials will remain valid, and no immediate action is required from customers.
