OAB Nacional appoints Rafael Horn and Misabel Derzi to new board roles

The Full Council of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) has unanimously approved the appointment of Rafael Horn as Executive Director and Misabel Derzi as Administrative Director of the Federal Council. These appointments implement two new administrative positions established by Law No. 15.511/2026.

The structural changes aim to modernize the entity's administration and align its regulations with the updated Statute of Advocacy and the OAB. The new rules also allow for the creation of temporary regimental directorates by sectional councils and provide a 60-day period for internal regulations to be adapted.

Rafael Horn, a federal councilor from Santa Catarina and former vice-president of the Federal Council, intends to prioritize the defense of professional prerogatives and address issues regarding supplementary registrations for lawyers practicing in multiple states. He also aims to maintain the stance of defending against perceived abuses within the Supreme Federal Court (STF).
