The Brazilian Bar Association (OAB-RO) has launched a disciplinary administrative process to investigate an intern suspected of illegally practicing law in the regions of Ouro Preto do Oeste and Alvorada do Oeste.

The investigation follows a report from a citizen seeking social security benefits through the INSS. The intern allegedly misrepresented herself as a lawyer, omitted her student status, and charged legal fees after the benefits were granted. Additionally, the suspect reportedly engaged in a judicial proceeding using the name of a lawyer unknown to the client.

The OAB-RO is also investigating the lawyer whose name was used in the legal filings to determine if they facilitated the unauthorized practice. The matter has been referred to the Public Ministry of Rondônia to investigate potential criminal charges, including fraud and the illegal exercise of a profession.
