Oak Harbor man charged in liquor theft and knife incident

An 18-year-old Oak Harbor man, Eden Chase Alsup-Hill, faces three criminal charges following a theft and weapon encounter on September 4. According to court documents, Alsup-Hill is charged with theft in the third degree, unlawful display of a weapon, and possession of cocaine.

The incident began when witnesses reported that Alsup-Hill stole approximately $243 worth of liquor from a Haggen store. Witnesses also alleged that Alsup-Hill approached a vehicle while holding a knife with the blade pointed upward. While Alsup-Hill admitted to the theft, he denied approaching witnesses with a weapon.

A 14-year-old girl allegedly assisted in hiding the stolen alcohol and reportedly brandished a folding knife during a confrontation with officers. Her case has been referred to the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office. Following his arrest, jail officials at the Island County Jail allegedly discovered a bag of cocaine hidden in Alsup-Hill’s clothing.
