OAKA implements new strategy for scientific sports support and major events

The Olympic Stadium Complex (OAKA) is implementing a new strategic model focused on holistic athlete support and expanded public utility. The administration aims to transform the complex into a multipurpose hub that hosts not only systematic training and recovery but also large-scale international sporting events, music festivals, and concerts to attract domestic and foreign visitors.

To support the athletic community, OAKA is emphasizing scientific advancement. General Director Dr. Konstantinos Chalioris recently highlighted the importance of scientific training and nutrition during the presentation of the book ‘Athletic Nutrition – A Modern Scientific Approach’ by Dr. Konstantinos Bardis. The initiative underscores the connection between physical exercise and health through evidence-based practices.

Economically, the administration is exploring the potential impact of hosting major events. Projections suggest that attracting 30,000 additional international visitors could generate approximately 18.1 million euros in spending, based on an estimated average travel expenditure of 602 euros per visit. The goal is to balance consistent athletic use with large-scale events to boost the Attica region's economy.
