Oakland Athletics season derailed by unprecedented injuries

The Oakland Athletics finished the season with a 64-98 record, a decline attributed largely to unprecedented player injuries and pitching struggles at their temporary stadium in West Sacramento. Manager Mark Kotsay noted that the loss of top opening day players for over 60 games was unlike anything he had experienced in his professional career.

Interim general manager Dan Feinstein expressed dissatisfaction with the win-loss results but highlighted the development of young players, such as Zack Gelof, Joshua Kuroda-Grauer, and Henry Bolte, who were forced into unexpected roles due to the roster instability. The club is preparing for its final scheduled season in Sacramento before a planned relocation to Las Vegas in 2028.
