Oakland Boys' Joyride Leaves Woman Critically Injured

Two brothers, ages 7 and 4, took their parents' Toyota while the adults slept and drove through Oakland. The car crashed into a home on 35th Avenue, striking a woman in her early twenties who was walking a dog. She was left in critical condition, while the younger brother suffered a broken leg and the older a concussion. A witness said, “I pray that she’s okay, but it was bad, it was bad.” Oakland police are investigating the incident and questioning parental supervision. Community members have called for the parents to be held responsible, and a legal analyst noted the need for counseling for the children.

The incident highlights concerns about child access to vehicles and parental liability in reckless driving cases.
