Oakley introduces integrated prescription technology for Shield eyewear

Oakley, in collaboration with lens specialist Shamir, has introduced Shield Fusion, a new technology that integrates prescription correction directly into shield-style sports eyewear. This marks the first time in 30 years that the brand has integrated vision correction into a shield design.

Instead of using traditional separate correction clips behind the main lens, the Shield Fusion method uses a lamination process to attach the corrective optics to the back of the shield lens. This approach is designed to keep the front view of the eyewear nearly seamless and unobstructed.

The technology is initially available for select models in the Sutro family, including the Sutro, Sutro Lite, Sutro Lite Sweep, and Sutro Lite Small. The prescription capabilities support a sphere of -3.00 to +3.00 dpt and a cylinder of up to -3.00 dpt. The lenses are also compatible with Oakley’s Prizm color options.
