Oaklore Distilling releases Old Fashioned Finished Four Grain Bourbon
Oaklore Distilling, a distillery based in Charlotte, North Carolina, has released a limited edition Old Fashioned Finished Four Grain Bourbon. The spirit is a small batch blend of six-year-old barrels sourced from sister distilleries in North Carolina and Kentucky.
The bourbon is distilled from a mashbill consisting of 70% corn, 10% rye, 10% wheat, and 10% malted barley. It was aged for a minimum of six years in new 53-gallon American white oak barrels and subsequently finished for 18 months in barrels previously used for Oaklore’s Old Fashioned Cocktail Mixer. The final product is non-chill filtered and bottled at 98 proof (49% ABV).
Retail distribution is currently limited to North Carolina and South Carolina, though the distillery offers national shipping through its website. The bourbon features tasting notes of cane sugar, maraschino cherry, plum, and Angostura bitters on the nose, with a palate of brown sugar, cinnamon, and pepper.
