OANA celebrates 65th anniversary at media forum in Moscow

A media forum is being held in Moscow to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA). The event features more than 60 representatives from over 20 countries.

Discussions at the forum include the role of the organization in shaping the regional information space, combating disinformation, the use of artificial intelligence in newsrooms, and maintaining information content quality. The event also includes a photo exhibition titled ‘OANA: 65 Years of History and Development: 65 Years of Information Exchange in the Asia-Pacific Region’ and the presentation of the ‘OANA Awards’.

Founded in 1961 under the initiative of UNESCO, OANA currently connects 41 news agencies from 35 countries to facilitate the direct and free exchange of news across the region. The forum is being hosted by the Russian state news agency TASS, which currently holds the chairmanship of OANA.
