Film industry updates: Zafranović premiere and Oasis documentary success
Several cinematic developments are making headlines in the regional and international film scenes.
Director Lordan Zafranović is set to premiere his film ‘Zlatni rez 42: Djeca Kozare’ at the FEST International Film Festival in Belgrade on October 2. The film explores the atrocities of the Jasenovac concentration camp during World War II, focusing on the suffering of Serbs, Jews, Roma, and Croatian anti-fascists. The production features a large regional cast and a screenplay by Arsen Diklić and Zafranović.
In Serbian cinema, director Jelena Maksimović has achieved significant recognition with her feature debut ‘Do kraja dana’, which was selected for the Orizzonti program at the Venice Film Festival. This marks the first time a Serbian female director has reached the official selection of the festival since 1966.
In the music documentary sector, the film ‘Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger’ is seeing massive success. The documentary follows the reconciliation of brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher and their ‘Oasis Live ’25’ reunion tour. In Japan, the film has surpassed 100 million yen in box office revenue within its first week, leading to an extension of its theatrical run.
