British band Oasis saw its 1995 hit "Wonderwall" re-enter the US Billboard Hot 100 at number 27, the highest position since the song’s original run in 1996. The resurgence followed the track’s adoption as an unofficial anthem by England supporters during the FIFA World Cup, prompting a sharp spike in listening.

In the United States, streaming between 10‑16 July jumped 73 % to 8.7 million plays, while radio audience rose 41 % to roughly 2.2 million listeners and digital downloads more than doubled to about 1,000 sales. Globally, streams reached 35 million and sales increased 78 % to 4,000 units, according to data‑analysis firm Luminate. In the United Kingdom, the song also climbed to number 2 on the Official Singles Chart.

The chart comeback highlights how major sporting events can revive classic recordings and generate cross‑generational exposure.
