Guatemalan arms trafficker and cartel operator arrested in Mexico

Authorities in Mexico and Guatemala have apprehended key figures in transnational criminal networks. In Mexico, Gregorio ‘N’ was captured in the state of Chiapas. He is identified by the Guatemalan Ministry of the Interior as a suspected leader of a criminal network involved in the illicit trafficking of firearms and ammunition from the United States to Guatemala.

In a separate operation in Zapopan, Mexico, authorities arrested Ángel Guerrero Carrillo, known as ‘Canguro’. Identified as a member of the Beltrán Leyva Cartel, he allegedly served as a logistics operator and coordinator for the distribution and sale of synthetic drugs in Seattle and Tacoma, Washington. The arrest was the result of intelligence sharing between Mexican and U.S. authorities.
