Oaxaca Congress honors UABJO bicentennial with Wall of Honor inscription

The LXVI Legislature of the Oaxaca Congress has approved the inscription of the Universidad Autónoma Benito Juárez de Oaxaca (UABJO) in gold letters on the Wall of Honor within the Parliamentary Chamber. This decision commemorates the bicentennial of the institution, which was founded on August 26, 1826, as the Institute of Sciences and Arts of the State.

The initiative, promoted by the Political Coordination Board (Jucopo), recognizes the university's historical, educational, and cultural legacy. The institution is noted for being a center of liberal ideology and for educating prominent historical figures, including Benito Juárez, Porfirio Díaz, and Matías Romero.

In addition to the UABJO recognition, the Plenary approved the reinstatement of previously approved legends on the Wall of Honor to preserve the merits of figures and institutions that have shaped the identity and development of Oaxaca.
