Oaxaca de Juárez underpass construction reaches 7 percent progress

Raymundo Chagoya Villanueva, the municipal president of Oaxaca de Juárez, reported that the construction of the Monumento a Juárez underpass is progressing according to schedule. The project currently shows a physical progress of over 7 percent and is expected to reach 15.4 percent in September, 32.3 percent in October, and 68 percent in November, with full completion targeted for December 2026.

To mitigate the impact of the construction, the municipal government will provide tax incentives to local merchants in the area. Additionally, a special operation will be implemented to allow local passage on Federal Highway 190 near the COBAO school in Pueblo Nuevo to facilitate the movement of students, teachers, and staff during the start of the school year. Other vehicles will continue to use designated alternate routes.

Plans are also in place to construct a protective cell to remove and restore the Benito Juárez statue located in the construction zone.
