Oaxaca Prosecutor denies involvement in shootout with Puebla police

The Oaxaca State Attorney General's Office (FGEO) has officially denied that its agents were involved in a recent shootout with Puebla state police in Acatlán de Osorio. The incident occurred near the international highway to Oaxaca at the Palomas junction following an operation by Puebla's Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) targeting cargo theft suspects.

During the confrontation, suspects opened fire on police vehicles and fled the scene. While no injuries were reported, authorities seized an abandoned white BMW X1 containing jackets with official logos from the Oaxaca State Investigation Agency (AEI), along with various documents and license plates. The FGEO clarified that no active personnel are participating in criminal cells and that no staff were assigned to commissions in that specific area at the time of the event.
